Understanding Cell Phone Memory Card Terminology

Buying a memory card for your unlocked cell phone can be frustrating, especially if you don't understand the terminology. From gigabytes to Micro SD.. what does all this stuff mean and how can you make sure you are getting what you need?

The first step to understanding cell phone memory cards is understanding what everything means. Here's a quick look at the terminology:

MB: The megabyte is a term representing the amount of storage memory card has. Today, most memory cards needed today should have at least 1 gigabyte (see below) of storage. However, if you don't need that much space, megabytes will do and will cost less. A megabyte is equal to 1,048,576 bytes.

GB: GB stands for gigabyte and just like megabyte, it is a measure of disk space. Basically you should know that the larger the gigabytes the more space you have and the more expensive the memory card will be. 1 gigabyte is equal to 1,024 megabytes.

microSD: microSD is a special format specifically for removable flash memory cards. Basically if you are purchasing a memory card it should say mircroSD or microSDHC (see below). The SD stands for Secure Digital.

microSDHC: microSDHC cards are Secure Digital High-Capacity cards are a newer version of flash memory cards. SDHC have a minimum capacity of 4GB but unfortunately are not compatible with all devices.

Okay, now that you know the terms, let’s put it all together. When purchasing a memory card for your cell phone online you will see something like this Kingston 4GB Micro SD Memory Card from VibeCellular below. Kingston represents the brand, 4 GB represents the storage, and Micro SD represents the type or format of flash memory.

Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet

When it comes to Nokia portable electronics, you know you are going to get the best. Nokia is known for releasing innovative and jaw dropping designs complemented by user friendliness and amazing technical specifications. One device that beats the competition hands down is the Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet.

Surprisingly, even from looking at the above picture, the Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet is no larger than your iPod. The device plays music, video, and stores photos while interacting with the consumer through a 4 inch touch screen and the coveted sliding keyboard.

Using WiFi, you can do just about anything with this device including sending email, getting directions, browsing the internet, instant messaging, and streaming mp3 and videos. My favorite feature of the phone is the fact that it works with my favorite applications including having a Mozilla browser and being compatible with Skype, Google Talk, and Gizmo. Still, our customers can say it better than we can... here are some of the reviews:

"This is a very nice product for quick Internet access when you're away from a computer. I leave it on all the time, and the battery lasts 2-3 days without needing to be re-charged, and it's easy to carry around (much easier than a laptop) and always handy when I need it."

"just to give you an idea on how awesome the nokia n810 im writing the review from it. its preloaded with lots of google apps so anyone with a gmail account i highly recemend the product. may people complained about the keys on the keyboard but after i got it i didnt get why, my cell phones keys are way smaller. well that about it its a great gizmo."

I think that says it all! And remember, for a closer look at the Nokia N810 Portable Internet Tablet, or for more customer reviews, visit http://www.vibecellular.com/. Vibe cellular has the biggest brand names at the lowest prices – all ready to ship right to your door.

The Motorola L7, Not Just Another Pink Phone

One sale now at Vibe Cellular is a Motorola L7 Pink GSM Quadband Phone, unlocked of course! Pink cell phones have given women techies grief for a long time because they look pretty but have no features.

However, the Motorola L7 Pink GSM quadband Phone, isn't just another pink phone, it’s actually packed with some pretty cool features. For starters, it’s one of the thinnest Motorola phones around measuring only 11.5 mm thick from front to back. But don't let the size fool you, it has a VGA camera, a color display and microSD memory card support. So you can enjoy a colorful view as you take digital pictures and store them with ease.

Another feature is that the Motorola L7 also features an e-mail client. E-mail clients are a must have for today's phone, unfortunately they are often not included in many fashion phones today. Not only does the Motorola L feature an email client but also has Java games and WAP 2.0 for surfing the web.

One of my all time favorite features of the phone is not the Bluetooth capabilities, but the fact that the Motorola L7 is actually iTunes friendly, so you can chill and listen to music without struggling with uploading programs. Speaking of syncing, the Motorola L7 can be synced with your computer, office laptop, or a Bluetooth enabled device.

Messaging is also an important feature. A lot of phones, including the iPhone have stopped allowing MMS services... they just want you to use email. However, sometimes you want to send a picture or video quickly without having to email it. The Motorola L7 is MMS and SMS compatible and comes with a T9 dictionary to help you with those misspelled words.

Other features of the Motorola L7 include an integrated speaker phone, miniUSB, EDGE, GPRS, 5 MB memory, 140 hour talk time, and internal antenna.

To purchase the Motorola L7 Pink for $115.99 visit http://www.vibecellular.com/. Vibe cellular has the biggest brand names at the lowest prices – all ready to ship right to your door.

Where Did You Get That Cell Phone?

This is a story of someone who has no idea what Vibe Cellular is or what an unlocked cell phone is. No one was hurt in the typing of this story, and no cell phones were damaged. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll finally get an answer to that question....

"Where did you get that cell phone?"

You know who we are talking about; that guy who not only has the latest cell phone, but has a cell phone that you wouldn't even know where to buy it from. We are talking about a cell phone whose manual doesn't even come in English, a cell phone that makes people stop and drool, a cell phone that make people whisper "what is that" and "what provider is that under".

However, the most frustrating part is that you just bought what you thought was the best cell phone on earth. You stood in line for 3 days in the snow and set up camp just to hopefully buy one, you paid hundreds of dollars, signed your life away in contracts, and even kissed it a few times. And guess what, he still out does you, he still has a phone that seems better than yours and when you ask him…

“Where did you get that cell phone?”

He says, "oh, it's an inside thing".

Frustrated, you run screaming and crying all the way home. As you sit in the living room you decide that is time for you to have the best cell phone in the room. So you call into work and take off all of your vacation time, you go to the store and stock up on a month of groceries and you make camp in front of your computer to search for the answer to your question..

"Where did he get that cell phone?".

You start with all the major providers and search every phone offered and you find nothing. You search every eBay listing that has anything to do with cell phones and a week later, nothing. You search Google, Yahoo, MSN, anything and you come up empty. Right before you are about to end your search, you see something out of the corner of your eye…"unlocked cell phones". Your heart pounds and you find your way to Vibe Cellular.com and realize that you have found the answer to your question...

"Where did you get that cell phone?"

Cell Phone Accessories You Shouldn't Live Without

Cell Phone Accessories are an important way of life, not only because they come in the box, but because they can make life a lot easier. Here are a few cell phone accessories that you should not live without.

Memory Cards
Some of us need extra space especially when our cell phones don't come with much of it! Get a memory card and never delete anything again to make room for something else.

Backup Battery
If your phone has an interchangeable battery why not have a back up? You know you will wish you had one when your battery goes dead and there is no outlet in sight. Try:

Bluetooth Headset
A life saver for a multitasker who doesn't have enough hands to do it all. Plus it’s a really convenient accessory that can send files back and forth to other Bluetooth devices and allow you stay hands free. What more could you ask for?

USB Cable
Some people don't even know their phones come with one! It's an important accessory if you sync with your computer on a regular basis, or to quickly charge your phone on a USB capable charger; very convenient.
